The DA is pleased to announce that we have retained two wards in today’s by-elections in City of Cape Town Ward 8 and Stellenbosch Ward 8.

It is evident that residents are happy with the DA’s proven track record of good governance and excellent service delivery.

In the hotly-contested George Ward 20, which is a non-DA ward, our party demonstrated growth, increasing its voter base by just under 11%.

The results are as follows:

Ward 8, City of Cape Town grew from 83.82% in 2021 to 85.44% in 2024;

Ward 8, Stellenbosch grew from 84.12% in 2021 to 98.61% in 2024 and;

Ward 20, George grew from 20.41% in 2021 to 31.27% in 2024.

We have full confidence in the ability of our newly elected councillors Johann Loots (Ward 8, City of Cape Town) and Tammy Kumm (Ward 8, Stellenbosch) to continue implementing the DA’s mandate to fight for clean governance and provide quality service delivery in their respective wards.

We thank all residents who voted for us and helped the DA claim victory.
