The removal of DA Mayor Lincoln de Bruyn today is yet another example of the instability being inflicted on Theewaterskloof Municipality by the ANC, PA and EFF.
The ANC and PA once again joined forces to remove Mayor De Bruyn.
While these parties continue to obsess about political positions, residents are left to deal with the consequences. Local government should be about delivering reliable services, creating opportunities and bettering lives of residents.
Theewaterskloof residents cannot afford political turmoil. They deserve a municipality that is focused on getting things done.
Despite having to mop up the financial mess left by the ANC/PA coalition, Mayor De Bruyn and his municipal teams focused on stabilising its finances under the Financial Recovery Plan while maintaining essential services and engaging transparently with communities.
Municipal teams restored the damaged Myddleton footbridge in-house, proving how internal expertise and teamwork can provide practical, cost-conscious infrastructure solutions.
The DA believes that residents deserve stable, accountable and effective local government. We will continue to stand up for the people of Theewaterskloof and put their interests ahead of political opportunism.
On 4 November, residents have an opportunity to make their voices heard and vote for a DA majority government that will avoid coalition chaos.
